Fair Housing
Equal Housing Opportunity.
Every client is served equally, without exception.
Saksham Rana and Grewal Real Estate support the federal Fair Housing Act and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, and comply with all applicable fair housing laws.
Protected characteristics
It is illegal to discriminate in the sale, rental or financing of housing on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including gender, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation), disability, familial status or national origin under federal law. California law additionally protects characteristics including marital status, ancestry, source of income, veteran or military status, primary language, immigration status, age, genetic information and citizenship.
What that means in practice
- Questions about the demographic makeup of a neighborhood are answered with objective public data sources rather than opinions or characterizations.
- Marketing is written to welcome all buyers and tenants.
- Reasonable accommodations and accessible communication formats are available on request.
- Instructions from any party to treat people differently based on a protected characteristic will not be followed.
Filing a complaint
You may file a housing discrimination complaint with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development at HUD Fair Housing (opens in a new tab) or with the California Civil Rights Department at calcivilrights.ca.gov (opens in a new tab).
